Privacy notice
Last updated: July 2026
This notice explains how ANMAR Counselling collects, uses and looks after your personal information when you use this website. Your privacy matters, and I only ever collect what I need in order to reply to you.
Who I am
ANMAR Counselling is a counselling practice run by Anna Scattergood, an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). For anything to do with your information, you can contact me using the details at the bottom of this page.
What I collect
If you fill in the enquiry form on this website, I collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Whatever you choose to write in your message
Please only include what you're comfortable sharing at this stage. There's no need to write anything detailed about your health or personal circumstances in a first enquiry, and it's usually better to leave that for our conversation.
Why I collect it and my lawful basis
I use your details for one purpose only: to reply to your enquiry and, if you'd like to go ahead, to arrange a free discovery chat or sessions.
My lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box and sending the form. If your message happens to include information about your health, my basis for handling that is your explicit consent under Article 9 of the UK GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time by asking me to delete your enquiry.
Who sees it
Your enquiry comes straight to me. I don't sell your information, I don't share it for marketing, and I won't add you to any mailing list. The only other parties involved are the technical services that deliver and store the message, such as my website host and email provider, who act on my instructions.
The only time I would share information without your consent is where I'm required to by law, or where there is a serious risk to someone's safety, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework.
How long I keep it
If your enquiry doesn't lead to sessions, I delete it within six months. If we do work together, your contact details become part of your client record, which I keep securely and in line with professional and legal requirements. I'll explain that fully before we begin.
Cookies
This website doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies, and there's no analytics following you around. Nothing here is used to build a profile of you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what information I hold about you
- Ask me to correct anything that's wrong
- Ask me to delete your information
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Object to how I'm using your information
Just ask and I'll sort it. If you're ever unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can raise it with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
